Ro-Ro ferry ships serve as a vital means of transportation connecting Bengkalis Island (Air Putih) and mainland Sumatera (Sungai Selari). The operational efficiency of these vessels is significantly influenced by total resistance, which is directly proportional to fuel consumption. One geometric factor affecting this resistance is the modification of the bow shape. This study aims to analyze and compare the total resistance of two Ro-Ro ferry models sharing identical principal dimensions (L = 42.3 m, B = 11.8 m, H = 3.1 m, T = 2.03 m, Cb = 0.7), but featuring distinct bow geometries. Simulations were conducted using specialized software across a speed range of 0 to 14 knot s. The vessel with the wider bow exhibited variations in the distribution of frictional resistance and wave-making resistance due to changes in the wetted surface area (WSA) and waterline shape. This research provides a crucial contribution to the hull form design optimization of short-route Ro-Ro ferries to enhance energy efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.
