Abstract

With a potential of 12.01 million tons annually, Indonesia's marine fish resources are abundant throughout its territorial the waters of the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone (ZEEI), which is separated into nine Indonesian territorial waters. Of these, 46 tons annually are found in the Riau Provisnsi area. The number of practical fishing boats, however, is still insufficient to support Indonesia's potential for large fish resources. These factors, in accordance with the standard, lead to enough issues, such as figuring out the power of the ship motor that was designed and figuring out the smallest obstacles that could be present in order to calculate the power ship with a 5GT load size. It is required to examine the ship's performance for this reason. In this case, the author uses the Holtrop, Fung, and van Oortmerssen methods to anticipate the ship's resistance using the Maxsurf software. With ship speeds reaching 12 knots, the Holtrop method experiments show that 5GT fishing boats generate 4.1 Kn of resistance with a power requirement of 41.44 horsepower; the Fung method shows that 5GT fishing boats generate 4.6 Kn of resistance with a power requirement of 46.66 horsepower; and the van Oortmerssen method shows that 5GT fishing boats generate 4.8 Kn of resistance with a power requirement of 48.88 horsepower, so from the average value obtained here, the author recommends the selection of a 50 horsepower main machine.
