The Editorial Team of INOVTEK Polbeng - Seri Informatika acknowledges that plagiarism is unacceptable and has established the following policy detailing specific actions (penalties) to be taken when plagiarism is identified in a manuscript submitted for publication.

Definition

Plagiarism is the intentional or unintentional act of obtaining or attempting to obtain credit or value for scientific work by citing part or all of another person's work and/or scientific work as one's own without properly and adequately acknowledging the original source.

Therefore:

  • Manuscripts submitted to INOVTEK Polbeng - Seri Informatika must be original, have not been previously published, and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Any material taken verbally or in writing from other sources must be clearly identified to distinguish it from the author's original contribution.
  • The journal uses industry-standard plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin, to screen all submitted manuscripts.
  • If plagiarism is detected during the peer-review process, the manuscript may be rejected immediately.
  • If plagiarism is discovered after publication, an investigation will be conducted, and appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with the journal's policies.

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing cases of suspected plagiarism and determining the appropriate action based on the severity of the misconduct.

Levels of Plagiarism

Minor Plagiarism

Plagiarizing several short sentences from other publications without proper citation.

Action: The author will receive a warning and be required to revise the manuscript and provide appropriate citations.

Major Plagiarism

Plagiarizing substantial portions of another work without proper citation or acknowledgment.

Action: The manuscript will be rejected, and the author(s) may be prohibited from submitting manuscripts to INOVTEK Polbeng - Seri Informatika for a specified period.

All authors are responsible for the content of the manuscripts they submit. If plagiarism is confirmed, all authors will be subject to the same sanctions.

If it is found that a manuscript has been submitted simultaneously to another journal, and this overlap is identified during the review process or after publication, the journal will take action in accordance with the policy on major plagiarism.

In cases not specifically covered by this policy, the editorial board reserves the right to determine appropriate sanctions.

Misconduct and Retraction Policy

The Editor-in-Chief may consider retracting a published article if:

  • There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to major errors, data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation.
  • The article constitutes plagiarism.
  • The findings have been previously published elsewhere without appropriate citation, permission, or justification (redundant publication).
  • The article contains material or data used without proper authorization.
  • Copyright infringement or other serious legal issues have occurred.
  • The article reports unethical research practices.
  • The article was published based on a compromised or manipulated peer-review process.
  • The author(s) failed to disclose significant conflicts of interest that may have influenced the interpretation or evaluation of the work.

Retraction Notices Should:

  • Clearly identify the retracted article.
  • Be linked to the original article whenever possible.
  • Clearly indicate that the document is a retraction notice.
  • Be published promptly to minimize potential harm.
  • Be freely accessible to all readers.
  • Clearly identify who is retracting the article.
  • State the reason(s) for retraction.
  • Use objective and factual language.

Retraction Is Usually Not Appropriate If:

  • There is a dispute regarding authorship, but the validity of the findings is not in question.
  • The main findings remain reliable, and a correction is sufficient to address the issue.
  • The editor has inconclusive evidence and is awaiting additional information.
  • A conflict of interest is reported after publication but is unlikely to have affected the conclusions or editorial decisions.

INOVTEK Polbeng - Seri Informatika is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record and upholding the highest standards of publication ethics.
