Post-Publication Discussion, Correction and Retraction Policy
1. General Provisions
Inovbiz : Jurnal Inovasi Bisnis is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of published scholarly works.
The publication process does not end the scholarly responsibilities of authors or journal management. Published articles remain subject to academic discussion, clarification, investigation, and corrective action when relevant new information or evidence emerges.
This policy covers post-publication discussion, article corrections, expressions of concern, article retractions, and mechanisms for maintaining the publication record.
2. Post-Publication Discussion
Inovbiz : Jurnal Inovasi Bisnis welcomes researchers, academics, readers, and the scholarly community to submit scholarly comments, methodological critiques, responses, or questions concerning published articles.
Post-publication discussion aims to strengthen scholarly openness, support critical evaluation of research findings, and help identify possible errors that were not detected during peer review.
Scholarly discussion must be conducted professionally, be evidence-based, and respect the ethics of academic communication.
3. Procedure for Submitting Comments
Post-publication comments or reports may be submitted to the editorial office using the official contact information provided on the journal’s website.
Those submitting comments are expected to include:
- The title and identifying details of the article under discussion.
- The authors’ names and the article’s DOI, if available.
- A description of the questions, criticisms, or findings being raised.
- The supporting scholarly arguments and relevant evidence.
- Contact information for communication purposes, where possible.
The editor conducts an initial assessment of the relevance and substance of the comments.
4. Handling Scholarly Discussion
Relevant comments may be forwarded to the authors for a response or clarification.
If the issue concerns the interpretation of theories, methods, or research findings without indicating a material error, the editor may facilitate correspondence or other appropriate forms of scholarly discussion.
If there are indications of errors affecting the reliability of the article, the editor may initiate an investigation under the article correction and retraction policy.
The journal is not obliged to publish every comment received. Comments that are irrelevant, involve personal attacks, contain confidential information, or lack an adequate academic basis may be rejected.
5. Article Corrections
A correction is published when an error is identified in a published article, but the error does not invalidate the overall scientific conclusions.
Errors that may require correction include:
- Errors in author identification or affiliations.
- Errors in tables, figures, or supporting information.
- Errors in calculations or data presentation that do not invalidate the main conclusions.
- Errors in methodological information that require clarification for readers.
- Errors in bibliographic details or other important information.
Corrections are published through a notice explaining the corrected sections and the reasons for the corrections.
If the original article is updated, the changes must be transparently indicated so that readers are aware of revisions made after publication.
6. Expression of Concern
The journal may publish an expression of concern when serious concerns arise regarding the reliability or integrity of an article, but the investigation has not yet reached a sufficiently supported conclusion.
The statement is intended to inform readers that an issue is under investigation.
An expression of concern does not constitute a final determination as to whether misconduct has occurred. The notice may be updated once the investigation is complete.
7. Article Retraction
An article is retracted when sufficient evidence establishes that its findings are unreliable or that the publication contains serious issues affecting the integrity of the scholarly record.
Reasons for retraction may include:
- Data fabrication or falsification that renders the findings unreliable.
- Serious plagiarism or duplicate publication.
- Methodological or analytical errors that substantially invalidate the research conclusions.
- Serious violations of research ethics.
- Violations of rights or publication permissions that have a material impact.
- Manipulation of the peer review process that undermines the validity of the publication decision.
Retraction is based on an assessment of the case and the available evidence, rather than serving as an automatic punishment for the authors.
8. Article Retraction Procedure
The article retraction process involves the following steps:
- Receipt of a report or identification of a problem by journal management.
- Preliminary examination of the evidence and the seriousness of the problem.
- Requests for clarification from the authors and relevant parties.
- Further investigation, including consultation with institutions or independent experts where necessary.
- An editorial decision.
- Publication of a publicly accessible retraction notice.
- Updates to the article’s metadata and status information, subject to system capabilities and the requirements of indexing services and DOI registration agencies.
9. Publication of Retraction Notices
Retraction notices must be openly accessible and clearly state the reasons for retraction in a factual manner.
The notice must include the article’s identifying details, title, authors, publication source, and its relationship to the original article.
In principle, retracted articles remain in the scholarly archive with their status clearly marked. Complete removal of content is considered only in exceptional circumstances, such as a legal order, a serious breach of privacy, or a safety risk.
10. DOI and Publication Record
Articles that undergo correction or retraction remain linked to their original publication records.
Updates to article status, metadata, and links between the original article and correction or retraction notices are made in accordance with the applicable procedures of the journal system and DOI registration agency.
The history of corrections or retractions must not be concealed for the purpose of erasing the record of scholarly changes.
11. Responsibilities of Authors and Journal Management
Authors must promptly notify the editor if they become aware of a material error in a published article.
Journal management is responsible for assessing reports objectively, providing opportunities for clarification, documenting investigation findings, and taking proportionate action.
Every decision is intended to protect the integrity of the scholarly literature and the interests of readers and the academic community.
Inovbiz : Jurnal Inovasi Bisnis is committed to maintaining an accurate, transparent, and accountable scholarly publication record.
